In December 2011, Acura announced that they would show the next generation NSX in concept form at the 2012 North American Auto Show; on January 9, 2012, Acura unveiled the 2013 Acura NSX Concept. It’s been the longest automotive tease in history but now finally it’s here — this 2013 Acura NSX concept really is the new NSX.
The new 2013 Acura NSX concept retained the 2-door coupe, mid-engine, rear-wheel drive formula. The 2013 Acura NSX weight is kept down through the use of a high-tech platform made from the latest lightweight materials. The 2013 Acura NSX engine power comes from a V6 mounted behind the two occupants that sends its power to the rear wheels and is augmented by an electric motor.
The 2013 Acura NSX SH-AWD incorporates one electric motor in a dual-clutch transmission, forming a hybrid setup; additionally, two more motors can instantly send negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering for improved handling and efficiency. Acura claims the new all-wheel-drive system in the 2013 Acura NSX specs will provide super car acceleration while offering better efficiency.
Acura did not release how much is 2013 Acura NSX HP is its V6 engine and three electric motors will produce. For Acura designers and engineers, the 2013 Acura NSX concept is a chance to test the boundaries between evolution and revolution. Two decades ago, the original NSX brought Acura to the pinnacle of performance.
Now, with the 2013 Acura NSX concept based on the efficiency of hybrid power and all wheel drive, Acura once again shows that ultra high performance is at the core of their DNA. The production 2013 Acura NSX is not expected to be produced until at least 2015 and will be built at the Marysville Auto Plant in Marysville, Ohio. An advertisement for the 2013 Acura NSX began airing in early February 2012, featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno.
